Overflow Logic
Overflow logic determines what happens when a job is sent to your bench but no one accepts it. This is your fallback strategy—choose between automatically posting to the public marketplace or getting notified to handle it manually.
The Two Options
Send to Public Marketplace
When all pros in your bench decline or don't respond, the job is automatically posted to the public marketplace where any verified local pro can claim it.
Best for:
- Maximizing the chance of getting the job filled
- Hands-off automation of your lead distribution
- High-volume operations where manual review isn't practical
Notify Me (Manual Review)
When all pros in your bench decline or don't respond, you receive a notification and the job is paused for your review. You decide what to do next.
Best for:
- Maintaining full control over who handles your jobs
- Sensitive jobs that require careful pro selection
- Building relationships with specific pros before going public
How It Works
When a job exhausts your bench (all contacted pros have declined or timed out), Trusted Bench checks your overflow logic setting:
- Bench exhausted - All pros in your bench depth have been contacted and none accepted
- Check overflow setting - The system looks at your configured overflow logic
- Execute overflow action:
- If PUBLIC: Job status changes to "Open" and appears on the public marketplace. You receive a "Bench Exhausted" notification email.
- If NOTIFY: Job is paused and you receive a notification to handle it manually.
Choosing the Right Option
| If you want to... | Choose... |
|---|---|
| Maximize fill rate automatically | Send to Public Marketplace |
| Maintain full control over assignments | Notify Me |
| Run a hands-off operation | Send to Public Marketplace |
| Review each job before it goes public | Notify Me |
You can change your overflow logic at any time in Settings > Matching Workflow. The new setting applies to all future jobs.

- Hop Duration - How long to wait for each pro to respond
FAQ
Does changing my overflow logic affect jobs already in progress?
No. Each job snapshots your workflow settings when it starts routing. Changing your overflow logic only affects new jobs.
What happens to a job after it goes to the public marketplace?
Any verified pro in your area who matches the job's trade can view and claim it. You'll be notified when someone accepts.
Can I move a job to the marketplace manually if I chose "Notify Me"?
Yes. When you receive the notification, you can choose to post the job to the marketplace, reassign it to a specific pro, or cancel it entirely.
Will I still receive a notification if I choose "Send to Public Marketplace"?
Yes. You'll receive a "Bench Exhausted" email letting you know the job has moved to the public marketplace, so you're always informed.
